Designated Learning Institution

Since June 19th,  2014, international students need a letter of acceptance from a learning institution, which is outlined on the Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC) website.

The designated learning institution number (DLI#) is the number that starts with the letter ”O”. When international students want to renew or apply for a study permit, the students need to put the DLI# on the application forms. Otherwise, CIC officers will have the authority to refuse a study permit application submitted by the international student seeking to study at a non-designated institution.
