Centre for Digital Media

Centre

PLC has a unique partnership with the Centre for Digital Media (CDM): a one-of-a-kind institution that is jointly owned by Simon Fraser University, the University of British Columbia, Emily Carr University of Art + Design, and British Columbia Institute of Technology.

CDM offers the innovative Master of Digital Media Graduate degree program as well as other related programs.

PLC offers students that are part of its Digital Media Studies programs the opportunity to take CDM’s Immersive Digital Experience Academic (IDEA-X) course as credit for one DMS course.

IDEA-X is an intensive course that allows students to familiarize themselves with digital media through collaborative design, rapid prototyping, pipeline management and more. Students work hands-on, designing and building digital media experiences such as mobile applications.

The Centre for Digital Media welcomed a group of international students from Pacific Link College in November 2017. Throughout the four-week program, the students were able to create a range of different digital media artifacts including prototypes of mobile applications and virtual reality games. The IDEA-X faculty were very happy with the deliverables they presented and are now looking forward to receiving the next cohort!
