Course Overview

This French course builds on the fundamentals of language proficiency, offering learners the opportunity to strengthen and expand their command of the French language. Designed for individuals with little or no prior experience, this interactive French class helps students learn French more confidently in both informal and professional contexts.

Through this interactive French class, students will develop the ability to read and comprehend moderately complex French texts, reinforce their understanding of sentence structure, grammar, and mechanics, and enhance both listening and speaking skills. Special emphasis is placed on using the four key language skills—reading, writing, listening, and speaking—in real-time classroom interactions.

This course also integrates grammar, mechanics, and punctuation practice with practical communication exercises, ensuring that students can study French in an engaging and supportive learning environment. Designed as part of the French Preparation program, it helps learners assess and refine their current skills, preparing them for more advanced French courses or providing valuable reinforcement for academic or professional applications.

French is spoken in class as much as possible to encourage immersion and real-time language use.

Course Format

This French course is available both online and in-person.

  • Online classes are live and provide a virtual classroom experience where you can interact with your instructor and classmates in real time.
  • In-person classes – Offered as French classes in Surrey are held at Surrey Admissions and Office : 201 – 10090 152 St., Surrey, BC, V3R 8X8.

How Am I Assessed?

This is a non-credit French class, so there are no formal letter or numerical grades. Instead, you’ll receive constructive verbal feedback during class, particularly on your conversational and grammar skills. Written homework is reviewed together, and some modules include optional quizzes for practice.

Record of Completion
A record of completion will be emailed within two weeks after the course ends to students who meet the course requirements.
