The program provides an academic pathway for international and resident students whose first language is not English to gain the competencies within the context of business.

The program explores the interrelationship between marketing, finances and business management. Students will simultaneously upgrade their English competencies while exploring theoretical knowledge.

This course consists of learning theory and skills relevant to written communication in the context of business. Language upgrading and advancing relevant academic skills are taught and practiced in the context of the course.

The course examines the role of research in business. The course is theory based. Students will analyze qualitative and quantitative business research methods, and when to use them.

The course consists of learning theory and practice area skills relevant to higher level Public Speaking / Presentation Skill competencies in the context of business and academic skills.

The course examines the role of public relations in marketing strategy. The course is theory-based. Students will analyze a variety of public relations tactics and strategies. They will learn how to create contact lists of journalists, write press release, deal with incoming media inquiries, pitch a letter, persuade the public and choose a PR agency.

This course consists of learning skills relevant to searching for and finding jobs within the business sector and related sectors ahead of co-op placement in the program. Language upgrading and advancing relevant career skills are taught and practiced in the context of the course.

Co-op Length: 780 Hours

Requirements

  1. Must be at least 19 years of age and have attained a secondary school diploma.
  2. Instruction is conducted in English. Students need to demonstrate that prior to enrollment they have the language abilities (see below) to successfully complete the program of their choice.
  3. Language requirement:
    1. Evidence of IELTS 6 (or equivalent) with no band under 5.5;
    2. Alternatively the student has studied at a regular institution such as a university where English is the language of instruction;
    3. Alternatively the student can pass the College’s ESL placement assessment which could include an interview.
