Program Overview

The program provides an academic pathway for international and resident students with undergraduate degrees whose first language is not English to gain the competencies within the context of marketing.

The program explores the interrelationship between marketing and business management. Students will simultaneously upgrade their English competencies while exploring theoretical knowledge.

Program Details

Course Length: 80 Hours

The course examines the role of social media marketing as well as the use of online social networks in marketing strategy. The course is both theory-based and also builds hands-on experience with social media planning and practice. Students will analyze a variety of social media platforms for developing professional and company profiles. They will learn how to create accounts, professional networks, develop shareable content and collaborate. Students will examine how to perform social media audits and create social media plans, and use a combination of social networks and tools to research for, communicate on behalf of, and market their organization.

This course consists of learning theory and skills relevant to academic writing in the context of business. Language upgrading and advancing relevant academic skills are taught and practiced in the context of the course.

This Course consists of learning theory and skills relevant to content marketing in the context of business/marketing and the interrelationship between this discipline and digital media. The course examines the role of public relations in marketing strategy. The course is theory-based. Students will analyze a variety of public relations tactics and strategies. They will learn how to create contact lists of journalists, write press releases, deal with incoming media inquiries, pitch a letter, persuade the public and choose a PR agency.

Digital media design includes the use of integrated media to communicate messages, information, and entertainment through video games, movies, special effects, or 3-D animation. This course serves as a foundation in both graphic and interactive media design.

Students will be introduced to the theory and some of the technology used in digital media design including relevant software and will be introduced to its application in web and video. Digital photography will be also explored and Photoshop will be used for image manipulation. Students will learn related communication skills, including making an effective digital presentation/website.

This course consists of learning theory and skills relevant to search engine optimization int he context of business, and the interrelationship between this discipline and marketing. Language upgrading and advancing relevant career skills are taught and practiced in the context of the course.

This course consists of learning skills relevant to searching for and finding jobs within the business sector and related sectors ahead of co-op placement in the program. Language upgrading and advancing relevant career skills are taught and practiced in the context of the course.

Co-op Length: 780 Hours

Requirements

  1. Must be at least 19 years of age and have attained a secondary school diploma.
  2. Instruction is conducted in English. Students need to demonstrate that prior to enrollment they have the language abilities (see below) to successfully complete the program of their choice.
  3. Language requirement:
    1. Evidence of IELTS 6 (or equivalent) with no band under 5.5;
    2. Alternatively the student has studied at a regular institution such as a university where English is the language of instruction;
    3. Alternatively the student can pass the College’s ESL placement assessment which could include an interview.
