This course is an introduction to methods of diagnosing and caring for clients with different disabilities.

This course provides comprehensive training on methods of diagnosing and caring for individuals with intellectual disabilities. It covers essential concepts, strategies, and best practices for promoting independence, inclusion, and quality of life for clients with intellectual disabilities. Participants will learn how to assess individual needs, develop personalized support plans, and implement person-centered approaches to enhance the well-being of clients with intellectual disabilities.

Upon completion of this course, participants will have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide compassionate and effective support to clients with intellectual disabilities.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

• Describe the types of intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Explain the indicators for diagnosis
• Describe how to support clients who have intellectual disabilities
• Describe key points for caregivers of clients with intellectual disabilities

• A review of assignments and an overview of the daily lesson plan will be presented each day
• Selected exercises to be completed outside of class time may be assigned
