The hospitality industry is fast growing, and it continues to provide opportunities for graduates to succeed in a wide variety of areas. Business Hospitality Management Diploma Co-op program provides a pathway for students to acquire the knowledge, skills and experience needed to work successfully in a wide range of hospitality business management careers. In collaboration with highly qualified and experienced industry professionals, the Business Hospitality Management Diploma program is designed to provide students with the most updated and in-depth knowledge and skills in the hospitality world.
The 10 theory business hospitality management courses are provided in a blended form, via classroom, distance education, and applicable activities (i.e. guest speakers, and field trips). It also includes a co-op placement to apply the knowledge and skills gained in class. In addition, students in this business hospitality program obtain the Food Safe Certification and Serving it Right certification.
Students will be able to gain work experience in hotels, airline companies, cruise ship companies, motels, recreational resorts, convention and catering firms, private inns or tour companies. Some may find jobs in food service or housing departments of public service organizations such as hospitals, colleges, and universities.
Graduates from the Diploma in Hospitality Management program (Co-op) will be able to use standard hotel operation systems, demonstrate a deep understanding of hospitality management, practice efficient marketing and sales skills, deal with human resource issues, hospitality facilities, and front desk operations, and manage food and beverage operations and hospitality accounting procedures.
The schedule and program end date are subject to change due to the student’s academic performance, course availability, academic breaks, additional electives, and study permit status.
Delivery: The Business Hospitality Management Diploma with Co-op is provided at the Surrey Campus and Burnaby Campus in BC. Both In-person and Online classes are available.
Career Opportunities in Hospitality Management
This business hospitality management diploma program builds on the knowledge, skills, and previous experience and opens up careers in several areas, including the following National Occupational Classification (NOC) categories:
- 0632 – Accommodation service managers
- 6311 – Food service supervisors
- 6313 – Accommodation, travel, tourism, and related services supervisors
Examples of job positions after graduating with the diploma in Business Hospitality Management with Co-op include; restaurant manager/assistant, hotel front desk assistant/manager, hotel worker, restaurant team worker, tourist home assistant, and resort manager.
Depending upon experience and individual abilities, many employers will hire graduates not only in supervisory positions, but other jobs within the various sections of the tourism, hospitality, and management fields.

Tuition refunds are based on policy stated in the college’s enrolment agreement and bound by the Private Training Act Regulation.
Requirements
- High school graduates or mature student status (19 years or older at the start of the program)
- Language requirement
- English 12 (pass); or
- IELTS 6.0 (5.5 Academic); or
- TOEFL 60-78; or
- PTE Academic (Minimum 46 Overall); or
- CLB 7; or
- CAEL 50; or
- CELPIP 7; or
- Duolingo 95-100 (englishtest.duolingo.com/applicants); or
- College entrance test (63% minimum); or equivalent
- International students must comply with the requirements of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada in respect to study permits before starting the Diploma in Business Hospitality Management (Co-op) Program.

Transfer Credits
Upon completion of the Business Hospitality Management Co-op Diploma, students can transfer credits to VCC’s Hospitality Management Diploma and Bachelor programs.
